Nutrition made

Solving malnutrition in Kenya by rethinking traditional foods

What We Do • What We Do • What We Do • What We Do

We’re solving malnutrition with a modern consumer brand around nutritious, everyday foods

Our products are

'

...appealing

We produce and sell delicious, culturally-relevant foods.

...affordable

Value for money is key – we deliver a more filling product whilst sticking to conventional low prices.

...accessible

In roadside shops, local restaurants or around schools – we are where we want to be found.

In Schools
We sell directly to schools to reach young learners with spot-on nutrition. It’s a simple, practical solution for schools to implement – and one that remains highly affordable.

Market-based, in informal settlements
We sell through roadside shops in densely populated communities – where everyday life happens. These shops move 70–80% of Kenya’s consumer goods, and that’s exactly where we reach Kenyans in their day to day.

Our first product is a revamped traditional mandazi

What is a traditional mandazi?

A mandazi is a popular breakfast snack that is loved by young and old across Kenya:

  • A fried bread, usually made from wheat flour, sugar, water and yeast. High in energy, low in essential nutrients
  • Particularly common in low-income communities due to low price (KES 5-10)
  • Children take mandazis to school for a morning or midday snack
  • Sold typically on the roadside –  Consumed immediately or take-away. Many people feel frustrated by “air pockets” in the product, making it seem less valuable for the money they spend

25% daily requirements

(RDA) of Zinc, Iron, Folate and Vitamin A in every product – as well as a comprehensive mix of other nutrients.

Sweet Potato, Millet and Soybean

in every product.

Tasty and satiating

meeting consumer needs in value-for-money.

Low Cost

at level with other mandazis in the market.

The Nutrient Profile of our Mandazi POWER

Our fortified mandazi contains a nutrient premix inspired by the WFP Fortified Biscuit and tailored to the Kenyan context. Each piece delivers at least 25% of the daily requirements for key vitamins and minerals.

Local Production & Distribution • Local Production & Distribution

We work locally to stay close to our customers, create jobs, and strengthen the local economy.

We build on local

'

...sourcing

Local raw materials from Kenyan farms wherever possible

...production

Our factory employs and trains local women

...distribution

Delivered via electric bikes & micro-hubs across informal settlements

Community-based production
We produce in a factory located right within the densely populated areas we serve. Most of our team are young women from these neighborhoods, trained by us from the ground up and equipped with real opportunities to grow.

E-Bike distribution & Local hubs
We use electric motorbikes for our direct-to-shop distribution — effective, cost-saving, and environmentally conscious. We also supply distribution hubs, creating income opportunities for many Kenyans across the community.

Serving the market together with trusted local partners

Who We Are • Who We Are • Who We Are • Who We Are
